About Me
My passion for supporting people and recognising the importance of emotional wellbeing developed while I was working within human resources departments.
I was born and grew up in the Fens and have lived here all my life.
I have always loved the feeling of space the huge skies provide here, and walking in the barren landscape with no natural escape from the fen winds is, at times both a joy and chore, depending on my current mood.
Staying local to the area has afforded me the luxury of putting down roots and enjoying lifelong relationships. Growing up in a large family was noisy and chaotic and it took effort to get my voice heard. As I grew older, I began to value the silence and solitude of time by myself.
My career began in the corporate world, where I worked in fast paced management and leadership roles. What stood out to me most were the conversations that went deeper, where real connection and honesty were present. I realised that what I valued most was supporting others to be the best they can be and this is what led me retrain as a counsellor. I now bring both lived experience and professional insight to the work I do today offering a space where people feel heard, supported and empowered to grow to their full potential.
In my late 30s I embarked on my counselling journey and began training to become a therapist.
The training was life changing and once I had started my trainee clinical placement I realised this was what I wanted to do with my life.
During my time in HR, I was given the opportunity to complete a coaching and mentoring qualification and also a workplace mediation (conflict resolution) training course. Both of these qualifications have provided me with a range of additional skills which I am able to draw on.
I would describe myself as a ‘glass half full’ person with an optimistic outlook on life. My values of integrity, trust, curiosity and respect are key to the way I work and how I live my life. I have a calm demeanour, coupled with a sense of humour.
Outside of work, I enjoy travelling around the UK in my campervan with my partner and our dog. I enjoy live music and festivals and also time curled up with a good book.
